I am Katya (she/her) and I was elected as Gender Equalities Officer for 2024/2025. I am studying an MPhil in Sociology (The Sociology of Marginality and Exclusion.) I am extremely passionate about women’s issues, gender equality, and justice. My research focuses on Asian- Australian women’s lived experiences of intentional and traditional kinship in Australia. I was elected as Women’s Officer at the University of Western Australia, and I have worked with non- for-profit organisations which advocate for survivors of Family and Domestic Violence.
